Punchestown Window Competition

In April 2017 we were very busy creating window displays to enter the Punchestown window competition. We were delighted to be picked as one of the five finalists from the locality in this competition.
As a team we thoroughly enjoy entering this competition, brain-storming and coming up with different ideas every year! We love creating the windows ourselves, and giving our usual window designer, Carol Walsh (Retail Design) a break!
We came up with two window displays this year. In one we had a racecard with names of horses (quirky and funny names) and we used the names of designers of spectacle frames as the trainer names. We built up around this with a horse orientated theme, jockeys, trainers and on the other side we had champagne and ladies. In the other window we created a poster with a pair of spectacles that you could see the image of Punchestown clearly through the glasses and around it blurred to signify that you would see Punchestown better if you got a pair of specs with us.

On the outer building we stuck on brass sprayed horse shoes, to give the impression of a horse running across the building.

As one of the two finalists from Naas, we attended Punchestown on Tuesday 25 April for a day of racing and also to be presented with our prize. We met in the parade ring and the overall winner Lips n P’s was announced.

We had a fantastic day out at the races with huge thanks to Punchestown and Bank of Ireland and of course thanks to Liz Fay for all the work she does every year.

We look forward to entering next year and we are already drumming up new ideas…….
