Kevin graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2004. Initially, he worked in routine eyecare before changing direction and joining a laser vision correction clinic. Here, he collaborated closely with a surgical team, providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing procedures such as laser vision correction, lens exchange, and cataract surgeries. Having spent over a decade in this specialised field and undergoing extensive in-house training, Kevin has a deep understanding of laser refractive surgery and other specialised vision correction surgeries.
Driven to increase his clinical skills, Kevin pursued further academic studies, culminating in the completion of a postgraduate course in independent prescribing at Glasgow Caledonian University. Subsequently, he joined a new and expanding ophthalmology group, assuming the role of clinical optometrist. In this capacity, Kevin was involved in managing a diverse range of ocular health conditions, collaborating closely with some of Ireland’s most skilled surgical ophthalmologists.
When the COVID pandemic came, the opportunity presented itself for Kevin to join Teahan Optometrists in his hometown of Naas. Here, he brings his wealth of experience to the forefront, enjoying the opportunity to contribute to a family-oriented practice and infuse fresh perspectives into the business.
Outside of work, Kevin is actively engaged in volunteering in sports. Having played numerous sports during his youth to an elite level, he recognises the importance and value it holds, particularly for the younger generation. This comes from his parents who always encouraged him to play as much sport as possible. Their mantra of ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ is something Kevin truly believes in. Kevin devotes much of his spare time to coaching football in Naas, actively contributing to both Naas GAA and Naas AFC, both of which his children are involved in. Kevin plays golf in Naas Golf Club where he has been a family member his whole life. He firmly believes in the social, physical and mental well-being benefits of active sports participation and ensures that Teahan Optometrists supports and sponsors the football teams and the golf club in order to reflect that belief!
