Meet our Optometrist, Nikki. Graduating from Dublin Institute of Technology with a degree in Optometry, Nikki’s excellence was recognised with the prestigious Association of Optometrists gold medal award for her outstanding performance in her professional qualifying exams in 2003.
Driven by her passion for providing specialised care, Nikki has honed her expertise in paediatric optometry over the years. In 2017, she earned a professional certificate in paediatric eyecare from the esteemed College of Optometrists in the UK, solidifying her commitment to serving the unique needs of young patients.
Nikki specialises in myopia management and actively attends training seminars dedicated to this field. By staying abreast of the best evidence-based practice and latest advancements in emerging technologies aimed at addressing progressive myopia, Nikki ensures she remains at the forefront of providing optimal care for her young myopic patients.
Continuously striving for excellence, Nikki has in recent years, dedicated herself to further education in scleral lens fitting, enhancing her ability to cater to patients who require enhanced vision correction that is not possible with traditional spectacles and contact lenses.
While Nikki has specific areas of expertise she’s passionate about, she also thoroughly enjoys general practice. Her dedication extends to caring for individuals of all age groups with routine eye care needs, ensuring comprehensive attention to every patient’s vision health. She strives to create a welcoming environment where patients feel at ease. With a commitment to excellence, she ensures her patients receive nothing short of the best care from an optometrist who genuinely cares about their well-being and aims for an exceptional examination experience.
On a professional level, Nikki has demonstrated her commitment to the field by serving four years on the council of her professional body, Optometry Ireland. Presently, she continues to contribute her expertise by actively assisting the Professional Services Committee of Optometry Ireland.
Outside of work, Nikki’s greatest passion lies in her family and two teenage children. She finds joy in long countryside walks in her wellies with her adored Labrador dog, Murphy. Additionally, she prioritises her well-being by staying active and strong through regular reformer Pilates and outdoor circuit training sessions.
